Discipline: SER Inter Counties Double Trap
Venue: NCSC
Date: 20th June 2010

A low entry for the SER DT Intercounties with only three full teams and three part teams in attendance, but this did not put Sussex off Winning by a Massive 35 target lead.
So to the scores Steve Scott shot a blinding 140ex150 winning the Senior title and Dave Simmons 111, Charlie Milne 110, Cliff Goodwin 105 and Martin Goldie 84 excellant scores considering Steve Scott is the only DT shooter in the squad.
A special mention goes to Nat Foy who shot 65 and before this event had not seen or heard of Double Trap.
Charlie Milne missed the vets title by 1 target , Sussex had no lady or Colt shoot so if you want to shoot this event in the future please contact the Sussex CPSA Committee.

Discipline: Sussex 2010 Helice Championship
Venue: Invicta Gun Club
Date: 23rd May 2010

Sussex 2010 Helice Championship

The Sussex 2010 Helice Championship was held at the Invicta Gun Club on the 23rd May. The weather was a lovely sunny day, with light breezes. The atmosphere around the club was the normal warm welcome from Invicta. The Fred Nurse Memorial Shoot and both Surry and Kent County Championships was held at the event, creating a competitive shoot for everyone attending.

There was several excellent scores from Ivor Dadswell  and Bob Taylor, however Tim Woodhams and Richard Pleaster both finished on 19 ex 20. As both Tim & Richard were shooting in the same squad, they would have been fully aware of the need for a top score.

Richard went on to shoot a prefect shoot off and collect the coveted Helice Trophy as Sussex Champion.

Other successes included Aaron Smith as Colt and Nat Foy as Junior.

Discipline: Sussex English Skeet Championship
Venue: NCSC
Date: 14th March 2010

The day was shared with two other counties, which in turn meant that many people left it too late to book a place and then found that the shoot was full!
For those of us who had booked well in advance, the conditions were far from ideal.

The wind was gusty and the clays had a mind of their own. This was evident in the final results of the day, with only one 100 being achieved. This was shot late in the afternoon, when the weather had settled a bit.
But well done to Johnny Watson, who took the County Title with a score of 99. Martin Brister came second with a score of 96 and Alex Phillips, third with a score of 95. Martyn Jones took the Veteran title, with a score of 92. I retained the Ladies Title for the third year running, but with my worst ever score, which I am not going to publish!!!
Sadly, no entries for the Colts or Juniors.....
I would like to thank the eight other shooters, who turned up and gave it their all, especially Patsy Last(68 scored) who made a brave effort to take my title.

Discipline: Sussex Single Barrel Championship
Venue: Bisley Gun Club
Date: 7th March 2010

The Single Barrel Championship, the first of the Sussex County CPSA Championships for the 2010 season was held at Bisley Gun Club on Sunday 7 March 2010.

The event was well attended by the Sussex DTL shooting fraternity. The conditions were near perfect, although very cold, the sun was shining with very little wind affecting the targets.

The 2008 Champion John Offord, shot a 91/100 to become the 2010 Champion, with Steve Cole, 2nd on 89/100. Richard Plester and our rising Colt star Aaron Smith, both shot creditable scores of 87/100 for 3rd place.

Audrey Rex shot 70/100 to become Ladies Champion, whilst the Junior Champion is Jack Jeffries who shot 75/100 and Aaron Smith shot 87/100 to become the Colts Champion, also finishing 3rd overall.

A special word of thanks to all at Bisley Gun Club for hosting the event on behalf of the County. As usual the shoot was run in a most efficient manner, with excellent targets. Also a big thank you to Jenny and her culinary team for providing plenty of hot refreshments to keep us warm on the inside, whilst it was very cold on the outside.
